Reps Glossary
Every term you'll run into when buying reps — W2C, QC, batch, GL/RL, declared value and the rest — explained in plain language. New to rep spreadsheets and shopping agents? Start here, then jump to the pages that actually let you find and buy.
Buying & W2C
- W2C
- "Where to cop" — where to buy a specific item. A W2C link points to the source listing so you can order it through an agent.
- Cop
- Community slang for buying or purchasing something.
- Shopping agent (agent)
- A service that buys items from Chinese marketplaces on your behalf, takes QC photos, consolidates your orders and ships them internationally.
- Spreadsheet
- A community-maintained list of W2C links, grouped by brand and category, that points buyers to specific items.
- Finds
- Curated item listings the community is actively buying, shared as W2C links.
- Haul
- A batch of items someone bought or received, often shared as a set of photos.
- TS
- "Trusted seller" — a seller the community widely considers reliable for quality and communication. Reputations are informal and shift over time.
Quality & QC
- QC
- "Quality check" — photos of your exact item taken by the agent before it ships, so you can approve it or ask for a refund.
- GP
- "General pictures" — the seller's stock or catalog photos of an item, as opposed to QC photos of the unit you actually ordered.
- Batch
- A specific factory run or version of an item. Different batches vary in materials, shape and price.
- 1:1
- A replica marketed as closely matching the look of the original. Actual quality still varies by seller and batch.
- GL / RL
- "Green light / red light" — community shorthand for whether a QC looks good to buy (GL) or is better passed on (RL).
- Legit check (LC)
- Asking the community to judge a QC or a specific listing before you commit to buying.
- Flaws
- Imperfections visible in QC photos — loose stitching, glue residue, slight misalignment. Minor flaws are common; you decide what's acceptable before approving.
- Auth
- Short for "authentic" — the genuine, brand-made item. Buyers compare QC photos against auth references.
- Retail
- Buying the authentic item from the brand at full price; also the reference point when judging how closely a rep matches.
- OG
- "Original" — either the authentic item or the first/original release of a design.
Costs, shipping & customs
- Service fee
- The commission a shopping agent charges on top of the item price.
- FX markup
- The margin some agents add to the currency exchange rate — sometimes instead of a visible service fee, so compare the all-in total.
- CNY (¥ / RMB)
- Chinese yuan, the currency sellers price items in. Your agent converts it to your currency at checkout.
- Warehouse
- The agent's facility in China where your items are received, QC'd and consolidated before international shipping.
- Storage
- How long an agent holds purchased items for free before you ship, so you can group several orders into one parcel.
- Consolidation
- Combining several items from the agent's warehouse into one international parcel to cut shipping cost.
- Shipping line
- A specific carrier and route an agent offers (e.g. a US or EU line), each with its own price, speed and tax handling.
- Volumetric weight
- A shipping weight based on a parcel's size rather than its actual weight; bulky-but-light items may be billed on this.
- Declared value
- The price an agent writes on the customs form for your parcel, which affects whether you pay import duty or VAT.
- De minimis
- The value threshold below which a country charges no import duty or VAT on a parcel.
Marketplaces & community
- Rep
- Short for "replica" — the item itself.
- Weidian / Taobao / 1688
- The Chinese marketplaces where sellers list items; you buy from them through a shopping agent, not directly.
- Yupoo
- An image-hosting site sellers use as a photo catalog. It's not a checkout — you still order the item through an agent.
- Seller
- The shop or storefront on Weidian or Taobao that lists an item.
- r/FashionReps
- The main reps subreddit, where W2C, QC and haul posts are shared and discussed.
- RepLadies
- The main women's-focused reps subreddit, centred on bags, shoes and clothing.
